Distribution of Service Grants
Each year the Board decides on options for distributing our service grants. At our May meeting, we celebrate a great year of fundraising, service, and advocacy.
Consistent with the yearly Zonta budget, there are three major categories of ‘giving’ for 2022-2023:
- Scholarship awards from our Club for the selected winner of the Young Women in Public Affairs (high school student) and Jane M. Klausman Women in Business (college student)
- Service grants to Greenlight Operation, and to selected partners Pennsylvania Immigrant and Refugee Women’s Network (PAIRYN) and Girls On the Run (GOTR) in fulfilling our local mission for the 2022-2024 biennium
- Zonta International in support of our global mission
Winners of our local Club YWPA and Klausman scholarships ($1000 each) are submitted for consideration at the District and ZI levels; our local winners can earn significant amounts of money if selected at the other levels of the organization.
As a member of Zonta International, we have a proud tradition of contributing approximately 1/3 of our service dollars to one or more of the funds at the Zonta International Foundation.
In addition to the projects listed below, several members volunteer their time and talents to raise money for the club. Throughout the fiscal year, the main service funding projects include:
Holiday Wreath Sale
Every year around Christmas we sell beautiful wreaths to raise money for the cause.
The Apple Festival Parking
Each year volunteers accept donations for parking opportunities at the New Cumberland Apple Festival.
Boscov’s Friends Helping Friends
Volunteers shop at Boscov’s store. A $5.00 coupon is needed. The proceeds go to the Non-Profit organization.
The No Show Black Tie GALA
An “unevent” to accept donations for not attending. The donations support the Zonta Club Service Grants to benefit women and children both locally and globally.
